In support of the 9th National Astronomy Week, Andover Astronomical Society hosted an evening of lunar activities on 6th February, including the following:
- Stargazing using the society’s and members’ telescopes to look at the night sky. It was a bit cloudy but we still managed some good views of the Moon. Jupiter with its four Gallilean moons also put on a good show.
- Short talks from members focusing on the moon, including: its own history from its beginnings and looking into its future; its influence on our history, including myths, legends and religious influences; as well as how the moon “works”. Special thanks to our volunteers from the audience!
- Displays and videos focusing on the moon.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for a memorable evening.
The 9th National Astronomy Week 2025 runs from 1-9 February and is supported by the Royal Astronomical Society, British Astronomical Association, Federation of Astronomical Societies, and Society for Popular Astronomy.
